Shape is where foil is unbeatable. A supershape is a die-cut figure sealed from two printed sheets, which is how you get cars, animals, cartoon characters, crowns and rockets. Airwalkers are the tall standing figures balanced so precisely that they hover at head height and drift around the room.
Round is not one thing either. Orbz are foil balloons that inflate into a true sphere instead of a flat disc, bubble balloons are made of a stretchy transparent film and look like a soap bubble filled with confetti or small balloons, and giant 36-inch latex reads as a design object rather than a party balloon.
Then there is the typography: numbers up to a metre tall, individual letters that spell a name, ready-made phrase balloons, hearts and stars in every size. Most of them can also be personalised with printed or vinyl lettering.
